Product Details

Wrap yourself up in confidence this winter in the Backbone Hoodie Scarf. This bold design is meant to be worn as a statement piece. The fringe is hand knotted and the overall scarf is hand loomed on a knitting machine. This piece is directly influenced by Plains Indian style bead working. My hope is that this design will reflect what Native fashion is today.

Handmade in MN | 100% Wool

12" in width | 12" tall hood | 10" fringe | 48" length from base of hood to start of fringe

Dry clean or hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent | Lay flat to dry

Maggie Thompson (Fond du Lac Ojibwe) was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Textiles at the (RISD) in 2013. As a textile artist and designer she derives her inspiration from the history of her Ojibwe heritage, exploring family history as well as themes and subject matter of the broader Native American experience. Thompson’s work calls attention to its materiality pushing the viewer’s traditional understanding of textiles. She explores materials in her work by incorporating multimedia elements such as photographs, beer caps and 3D-printed objects.
